Remember how you broke a trail with me Through a thicket to a wooded height, And how we stood between the day and night Watching the cooling breath of evening slowly Chill a flaming sky to gray. A tree, Taller than the rest, reached out of sight Through wisps of mist for one lone star to light The deepening shadows. Remember, too, how we Embraced within our hearts the magnitude of space, And listened to some hidden waterfall Echo laughing answers to a cricket's prayer. How we reverenced the secrecy of that chosen place! Remember, too, -- oh! just remember -- that is all! And in remembering know that love was there! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...PIANO TUNING by MARIANNE BORUCH LINES TO A LADY WEEPING by GEORGE GORDON BYRON THE DOLLAR SPEAKS TO THE YOUNG NEGRO (TO EDITOR I.
