CRY OF A LONELY HEART by E. PEARL DANCEY

First Line: I WANT A BOY, A SMALL BOY
Last Line: I WANT A BOY . . . WHO NEEDS ME AS I NEED HIM.
Subject(s): BOYS;

I want a boy, a small boy,
A not-so-very-tall boy,
A boy of ten, eleven, or perhaps, thirteen.
I want a boy to talk with,
To take a long walk with,
Then home again, to chatter over what we've seen.

A gay little, square boy,
A sure-of-playing-fair boy.
A boy that I can chum with, and mother, and pet.
A boy who will love me
And never weary of me . . .
D' you know a boy like this, that I might get?

A motherless, tired boy,
An ambition-fired boy.
A boy that I can pamper, in every small whim.
A hungry little, sad boy . . .
A dirty little, bad boy . . .
I want a boy . . . who needs me as I need him.
