EYES by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: THE OWL HAS COME
Last Line: HAVE I NOT PROVED HIS WISDOM IS NO FABLE?
Subject(s): ANIMALS;

The owl has come
Right into my house;
He comes down the chimney,
To look for a mouse –
And he sits on the rim of my old black table.

Lord, since I see
Those wonderful eyes,
As big as a man's
Or a maiden's in size –
Have I not proved his wisdom is no fable?
