INGRATITUDE by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: AM I A FOOL?
Last Line: NO MERCY BE.
Subject(s): INGRATITUDE; UNGRATEFULNESS;

Am I a fool?
So let it be,
For half the world
Will pity me.

Ingratitude
Is not my name;
Thieves, called by that,
Are dumb for shame.

A fool -- the world
Will pity me;
Ungrateful -- let
No mercy be.
