OWLS by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: WHAT MUSIC, LORD, THESE BIRDS MUST FEEL
Last Line: FOR THE BEAUTY AT MY DOOR.
Subject(s): BIRDS; OWLS; SINGING & SINGERS; SONGS;

What music, Lord, these birds must feel,
That makes no pleasant tune:
They fail by throat, yet in their hearts
How they enjoy the Moon!

When I sit thinking of my money,
Or lie in bed and snore –
'Te-who! Te-who!' they cry in wonder,
For the beauty at my door.
