THE PRAYER OF DAFT HARRY by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: LORD, SINCE THIS WORLD IS FILLED WITH FIRE
Last Line: WHILE MARY SINGS OUR PRAISE!
Subject(s): GOD; PRAYER;

Lord, since this world is filled with fire
Inside this rounded mould –
Let's turn it inside out, O Lord,
While hands and feet are cold.

Let's split the world in half, O Lord,
As open as my palm,
Until the snow has melted down,
And hands and feet are warm.

Let's turn the world all inside out,
And glorify Our Name;
Until Our fire makes Jesus laugh,
While I blow up the flame.

Let's do it now, this minute, Lord,
And make a glorious blaze:
Till Jesus laughs and claps his hands,
While Mary sings Our praise!
