JOY AND SORROW by AUBREY THOMAS DE VERE

First Line: SULLEN SKIES TODAY
Last Line: COME SWEETER FOR PAST SORROW.
Subject(s): GRIEF; HAPPINESS; SORROW; SADNESS; JOY; DELIGHT;

Sullen skies today,
Sunny skies tomorrow;
November steals from May,
And May from her doth borrow;
Griefs—Joys—in Time's strange dance
Interchangeably advance;
The sweetest joys that come to us
Come sweeter for past sorrow.
