I know I am a mystery, A mystery for sure; I do not know myself at all, Nor do I find a cure. Oh! love I him, or love I not I'm sure I do not know; Sometimes I surely think I do, Then sure it can't be so. I am most certain of my doubts, Of faith uncertain be; What chance may bring I cannot tell -- What fate's awaiting me. I know my mind uncertain is, It wavers to and fro; Sometimes I think I should accept, But yet I answer, "No." With certainty I hesitate, Am clear I do not see; And so I go on wondering What will my future be? You see I am a mystery, A mystery for sure; I do not know myself at all, Nor do I find a cure. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...TUNK (A LECTURE ON MODERN EDUCATION) by JAMES WELDON JOHNSON THE LILY, FR.
