THERE IS BUT SILENCE by MARY FERRELL DICKINSON

First Line: SAVOR WELL EACH SIGHT AND SOUND
Last Line: BUT DARK SILENCE UNDERGROUND.
Subject(s): SILENCE;

Savor well each sight and sound,
There is but silence underground;
Silence ... nor the stir of leaf
Alleviating slow, chill grief.
Savor well the candent shower
Of sun your brittle little hour,
There is no laughter, light, nor sound,
But dark silence underground.
