WILD GEESE by MARION E. THORPE DILLER

First Line: ACROSS A TRANQUIL SKY
Last Line: ACROSS A TRANQUIL SKY.
Subject(s): GEESE;

Across a tranquil sky,
Where scattered clouds hang low,
The honking geese ride by
Into the sunset's glow.

Where scattered clouds hang low.
Over the town they fly.
Into the sunset's glow
I hear their raucous cry.

Over the town they fly,
Grey geese upon the wing, --
I hear their raucous cry ...
Killdeers and plovers sing.

Grey geese upon the wing
Into the saffron night.
Killdeers and plovers sing,
Seeking a sheltered site.

Into the saffron night
The honking geese ride by,
Seeking a sheltered site
Across a tranquil sky.
