A vanished sea has left its haunting line Inscribed upon the rocks that formed the shore. A somber cliff above the desert-floor Was long ago an island washed by brine. These tiny shells give undisputed sign Of life the prehistoric waters bore; But while the gleaming tides return no more, Resurging power flows in fresh design.
