EPIGRAM: MAXIMIAN by DIGBY MACKWORTH DOLBEN

First Line: AN UNASHAMED TYRANT IN EVERY VICE
Last Line: MY GOD, AND CAN IT BE THOU DIEDST FOR SUCH?

An unashamed tyrant in every vice --
An abject slave in cringing cowardice --
Child, in all things save in simplicity --
Brute, save in irresponsibility --
Believer, but in sense and taste and touch --
My God, and can it be Thou diedst for such?
