MEDITATION by MATHILDE DORE

First Line: VOICES AT TWILIGHT
Last Line: AND JOYOUS WITH LOVE.
Subject(s): MEDITATION;

Voices at twilight,
What do they say to me,
Low as the murmur of shells
From the sea;

Sad as the requiem
Of pines in the mist;
Soft as the landscape
The moonlight has kissed?

Voices at dawning,
What do they say to me,
Glowing and vaporous
Like bird songs of glee?

They are the flowing
Hymns to the sunlight,
Lilting with bird notes
And joyous with love.
