TWILIGHT OVER MEMORY LANE by MATHILDE DORE

First Line: INTO THE TWILIGHT'S VELVET CURTAIN
Last Line: OF THE MUFFLED VESPER BELL.
Subject(s): EVENING; SUNSET; TWILIGHT;

Into the twilight's velvet curtain,
Fireflies flicker, slow, uncertain;
While from the boggy marshes dense,
The guttural croak of frogs commence.

Over the hillside's wooded rim,
Flames the full moon's glowing brim;
A rustle of summer's gentle breeze,
Sounding a starlit symphony.

And now a breathless silence broods,
Around this tranquil solitude;
Only broken by the swell,
Of the muffled vesper bell.
