THE SONG OF THOMAS THE RHYMER by MARJORIE CHARLES DRISCOLL

First Line: YOU HAVE TAKEN THE SUN AND THE STARS FROM HEAVEN
Last Line: THAT YOU HAVE TAKEN MY GOD FROM ME!
Subject(s): GOD; MAN-WOMAN RELATIONSHIPS; MALE-FEMALE RELATIONS;

YOU have taken the sun and the stars from Heaven
With your dusky eyes that glow like wine,
You have taken the sweetness from the rose
With the touch of your warm red lips on mine.
You have stilled the song in the meadowlark's throat
With your voice that holds all melody,
And the fear is heavy upon my heart
That you have taken my God from me!
