MOON-FLOWER by WAYLAND A. DUNHAM

First Line: I SAW A MOON / FRAMED IN GAUZE-DRAPED SHADOWS
Last Line: AND FOUND YOU GONE.
Subject(s): MOON;

I saw a moon,
-- Framed in gauze-draped shadows,
And my heart sang in unvoicable serenity
Because you were near.

I saw a moon,
-- Lost on a shimmering path of the ocean,
And my breath trembled with the surge of the waters
Because of your loveliness.

I saw a moon,
-- Fade with the dawning like a fragile night flower,
And my soul withered, as gray light lengthened
And found you gone.
