MACABRE by JAMES WALDO FAWCETT

First Line: I SAW THEM IN THE MOONLIGHT PASS
Last Line: I SAW THEM . . . FADE!
Subject(s): GHOSTS; POETRY & POETS; SUPERNATURAL;

I saw them in the moonlight pass,
Like silver shadows in a glass;
With mournful step, erect and slow,
The ghost of Edgar Allan Poe;
Then quickly, like a frightened child,
The weeping ghost of Oscar Wilde;
And when I sought to give them aid
I saw them . . . fade!
