TWO JOURNEYS by HORTENSE KING FLEXNER

First Line: A SHORT STEP FROM BIRTH TO DEATH
Last Line: THE GRAIN OF INNOCENCE.
Subject(s): AGING; BODIES; LIFE;

A short step from birth to death
The body takes;
The seventy year aging
An easily covered territory.
But the soul goes a different journey.
Cast out from the garden,
And still remembering,
It labors late
To win back from the soil
The grain of innocence.
