FOR HELEN KELLER by THEODOSIA (PICKERING) GARRISON

First Line: I HAVE SAID MANY WORDS I MUCH REGRET
Last Line: MAY I NOT ENVY YOU?
Subject(s): BEAUTY; ENVY; KELLER, HELEN (1880-1968); VISION;

I have said many words I much regret,
I have seen much 'twere better not to see,
I have heard much that left these same eyes wet.
How could one envy me?

Your inward vision gives you beauty far
Beyond our loveliness, the sound you hear
Is that great chorus when star sings to star
Beyond our noisy sphere.

For you the harmony, the beautiful
And unstained grace that we must die to view.
I have seen much unlovely -- heard much dull;
May I not envy you?
