1938 BONNETS by ERMA HAALAND

First Line: I TRIED ON A NEW BONNET / IT REALLY WAS
Last Line: MY NEW EASTER HAT.
Subject(s): EASTER; HOLIDAYS; THE RESURRECTION;

I tried on a new bonnet,
It really was quite funny;
Had ears that stuck straight up
Just like an Easter bunny.

So I tried another,
In my side I got a stitch,
Then I laughed aloud
For I looked like a witch.

Time went on and on
Hats passed in review,
With my sense of humor,
I knew not what to do.

Then I shut my eyes,
Grabbed one -- big and flat.
Now all my friends admire
My new Easter hat.
