AT SUNSET by BARBARA HALLETT

First Line: WITH COLORS CHANGING ON THE SEA
Last Line: TO FADE AWAY.
Subject(s): EVENING; SUNSET; TWILIGHT;

With colors changing on the sea,
The sun long-beaten to the west,
I walk along the singing shore,
My thoughts no more to come to rest
Upon your name.

For you were something of a dream
That blossomed on a moonless night;
I've wondered why you ever came
Into my sight.

Oh, pity us who alone weep
Behind the shabby mask of day,
For things that live only in sleep --
To fade away.
