THE POEMS OF COLD MOUNTAIN: 96 by HAN SHAN

First Line: SOMEONE POINTS TO A CEDAR
Last Line: IT'S HARD TO MAKE A BALL
Subject(s): BUDDHISM; CHINESE LITERATURE; TREES; BUDDHA; BUDDHISTS;

Someone points to a cedar
and calls it sandalwood
many have sought the Way
how few have found Nirvana
abandoning gold and hauling off straw
they fool themselves and others
taking a handful of sand
it's hard to make a ball
