EIN URALTER SPRUCH by HEINRICH HEINE

First Line: MOST PRAYERS OF MY CHILDHOOD DAYS
Last Line: BOREE PERI HAGOFEN.
Subject(s): CHILDHOOD MEMORIES; JEWS; PRAYER; JUDAISM;

MOST prayers of my childhood days
From memory have fled,
No prayer at meals, at rising,
Nor when I go to bed.
But one I hold in high esteem,
And looms in large proportion;

My stay it is in happy hours,
And staff in my misfortune.
And would you know this pray'r of mine,
Mosaic interwoven?
It is the ancient formula
@3Boree Peri Hagofen@1.
