SONGS OF CREATION: 2 by HEINRICH HEINE

First Line: TO THE DEVIL SPAKE THE LORD THUS
Last Line: THOU CANST NOTHING MAKE, HOWEVER.
Subject(s): CREATION; DEVIL; GOD; SATAN; MEPHISTOPHELES; LUCIFER; BEELZEBUB;

TO the devil spake the Lord thus:
Copies of myself I'm taking;
After sun come constellations,
After oxen, calves I'm making.

After lions with their furious
Paws, I'm making kittens curious,
After men come monkeys clever:
Thou canst nothing make, however.
