THE PALM by HEINRICH HEINE

First Line: DREAMS ON THE LONELY HEIGHT
Last Line: MID WASTES OF BURNING SAND.
Subject(s): PALM TREES; SOLITUDE; LONELINESS;

DREAMS on the lonely height
A pine tree clad in snow;
Around it icy winds
In wild confusion blow:—

Dreams of a graceful palm
In the far southern land,
In silent solitude,
Mid wastes of burning sand.
