THE ARBUTUS SELLER by DANIEL MACINTYRE HENDERSON

First Line: INTO THE CITY ON THIS APRIL DAY
Last Line: TO BRING UNTO THE FAMISHED TOWN HIS BEAUTY!
Subject(s): MERCHANTS;

Into the city on this April day --
From greening woods to wintry highways bending,
He passes with arbutus-laden tray,
A wealth of fragrance every step attending.
An angel unawares is in this clod;
His ceaseless, clamorous cry is his soul's duty --
This vender comes, ambassador from God,
To bring unto the famished town His beauty!
