Pauvre Pierrot,
Weeping in the snow,
Mute is your -- @3Oh,
What is the French for Banjo
Or Lute?@1
Whatever it is, it is mute.
But let that pass,
Alas!
I mean @3Helas@1.

Pauvre Pierrot,
Why are you so --
So full of -- @3What's the French for Woe?@1
Are you grieving yet
For that coquette
Pierrette?
That naughty -- @3I forget
The English for Poulette@1.

Pauvre Pierrot,
Don't let it grieve you so;
Be happy while you may.
Some day
That little -- @3What's the French
For wench?@1
She will come back, alas,
A widow -- @3What is grass
In French?@1 Alas, Alas!
I mean @3Helas@1.
