NECESSARY OBSERVATIONS: 21ST PRECEPT by THOMAS RANDOLPH

Poet Analysis

First Line: IF THOU DISPRAISE A MAN, LET NO MAN KNOW
Last Line: TO MAKE THE WORLD BELIEVE THOU LOV'ST THE MAN.
Subject(s): HATE;

If thou dispraise a man, let no man know
By any circumstance that he's thy foe.
If men but once find that, they'll quickly see
Thy words from hate, and not from judgment be.
If thou wouldst tell his vice, do what you can
To make the world believe thou lov'st the man.
