Poet Analysis

First Line: WHEN LIDE MARRIED HIM -- W'Y, SHE HAD TO JES' DEE-FY
Last Line: "BOUT ""TRUSTIN' LOVE AND HEAV'N ABOVE, SENCE LIDE MARRIED HIM!"

WHEN Lide married @3him@1 -- w'y, she had to jes' dee-fy
The whole popilation! -- But she never bat' an eye!
Her parents begged, and @3threatened@1 -- she must give him up -- that @3he@1
Wuz jes' "a common drunkard!" --
And he @3wuz,@1 appearantly. --
Swore they'd chase him off the place
Ef he ever showed his face --
Long after she'd @3eloped@1 with him and @3married@1 him fer shore! --
When Lide married @3him,@1 it wuz
@3"Katy, bar the door!"@1

When Lide married @3him@1 -- Well! she had to go and be
A @3hired girl@1 in town somewheres -- while he tromped round to see
What @3he@1 could git that @3he@1 could do, -- you might say, jes' sawed wood
From door to door! -- that's what he done -- 'cause that wuz best he could!
And the strangest thing, i jing!
Wuz, he didn't @3drink@1 a thing, --
But jes' got down to bizness, like he someway @3wanted@1 to,
When Lide married @3him,@1 like they warned her @3not@1 to do!

When Lide married @3him@1 -- er, ruther, @3had@1 be'n married
A little up'ards of a year -- some feller come and carried
That @3hired girl@1 away with him -- a ruther @3stylish@1 feller
In a bran-new green spring-wagon, with the wheels striped red and yeller:
And he whispered, as they driv
To'rds the country, @3"Now we'll live!"@1 --
And @3somepin' else@1 she @3laughed@1 to hear, though both her eyes wuz dim,
'Bout "@3trustin' Love and Heav'n above,@1 sence Lide married @3him!@1"
