AUSTRALIAN TRANSCRIPTS: IN THE FERN by WILLIAM SHARP

First Line: THE FEATHERY FERN-TREES MAKE A SCREEN
Last Line: OF LIME-TREE IN AN ENGLISH JUNE.
Subject(s): AUSTRALIA; FLOWERS; TREES;

The feathery fern-trees make a screen
Wherethrough the sunglare cannot pass --
Fern, gum; and lofty sassafras:
The founds sweep over, palely green;
And underneath are orchids curl'd
Adream through this cool shadow-world;
A fragrant greenness -- like the noon
Of lime-tree in an English June.
