DAFFODIL AND DAISY by JOSEPH SKIPSEY

First Line: DECK'D IN MANY GEMS OF MORN
Last Line: THAT ONE SWEET PEARL THE DAISY WORE.
Subject(s): DAFFODILS; DAISIES; FLOWERS;

Deck'd in many gems of morn,
A daffodil without a peer,
I reared my head, and treat with scorn
A one-pearl-gifted daisy near.

That very hour, lo! wind-rock'd
Was I left gemless evermore;
Nay, made to envy what I'd mock'd,
That one sweet pearl the daisy wore.
