THE RIVER (1) by JOHN BANISTER TABB

First Line: HOW FAR SOE'ER THY RESTLESS WATERS ROLL
Last Line: E'EN NOW ITS DESTINY.
Subject(s): RIVERS;

How far soe'er thy restless waters roll,
Thou hast attained the sea.
So haply, now the current of the soul
Hath touched eternity.

For backward to the fountain-head there flows
A breath of tides to be --
Of life beyond, wherein the present knows
E'en now its destiny.
