MINSTREL OF THE SUN, by FREDERICK HENRY HERBERT ADLER First Line: By sum of vowels and consonants Last Line: She's minstrel of the sun. | |||
By sum of vowels and consonants I could not call her name. Yet always I can see her face Wherever there is flame. When I watch clouds that burn away Along the edge of night, Tripping she comes down flickering lanes And dances in the light. She wore the colors tamed by him Who was the god of fire. Logi was present at her birth. His gift was wild desire. She feared the quiet of the dark And laughed when lightning flashed To break the calm. She clapped her hands When thunder rolled and crashed. Though now she lies where dark winds blow And shadowy webs are spun, Her spirit dwells in light, and still She's minstrel of the sun. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...ANOTHER FRANCIS OF ASSISI by FREDERICK HENRY HERBERT ADLER ANTIQUE JEWELER by FREDERICK HENRY HERBERT ADLER INFERENTIAL by EDWIN ARLINGTON ROBINSON SUMMER SHIRT SALE by CARL SANDBURG TO A LITTLE INVISIBLE BEING WHO IS EXPECTED SOON TO BECOME VISIBLE by ANNA LETITIA BARBAULD SIC VITA by HENRY KING (1592-1669) TASTING THE EARTH by JAMES OPPENHEIM TO THE UNIVERSITY OF CAMBRIDGE, IN NEW-ENGLAND by PHILLIS WHEATLEY RECOMPENSE by JESSE M.
