THE BREEZE, by AL-HUSRI First Line: I breathed the blowing breeze Last Line: The embers, till they glow. | |||
I breathed the blowing breeze That haply it might ease My pains, and bring to me A fragrant air from thee. Alas, it roused instead Love's ardour from the dead, And published far and wide Love's secret I would hide. For when fresh winds suspire O'er an extinguished fire, They kindle as they blow The embers, till they glow. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE MOUNTAIN by HAYDEN CARRUTH THE FLAG GOES BY by HENRY HOLCOMB BENNETT THE WIND AND THE MOON by GEORGE MACDONALD THE CUMBERLAND by HERMAN MELVILLE IDYLLS OF THE KING: THE LAST TOURNAMENT by ALFRED TENNYSON TALL NETTLES by PHILIP EDWARD THOMAS ON IMAGINATION by PHILLIS WHEATLEY |
