WINTER FANTASY, by ADELE BABBITT First Line: Miss hoar frost is a dainty maid Last Line: And ends the revel of the night. | |||
Miss Hoar Frost is a dainty maid, Adorned for nature's masquerade. Her swirling gown of white, Festooned with jewels to catch the light, She fashions in the deep of night. The gems of fiery dye, That on her snowy bosom lie, She borrows from the starry sky. Her cloak of filmy lace, By icy crystal held in place, She drapes with artistry and grace. In all her bright array, And fearful of the coming day She swings into a mad ballet. Her feet so airy free, Leave footprints on each bush and tree That wrap the world in fantasy. The Sun appears with gleeful spite And ends the revel of the night. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A PROBLEM IN AESTHETICS by KAREN SWENSON WAR IS KIND: 23 by STEPHEN CRANE A SUMMER'S NIGHT by PAUL LAURENCE DUNBAR BITTER-SWEET: CRADLE SONG [OR, BABYHOOD] by JOSIAH GILBERT HOLLAND EPIGRAM: 45.
