THE BROWN BEAVER, by FLOSSIE DEANE CRAIG First Line: Oh, man, I think I know just why it is you sigh Last Line: That many a brave and daring man has died for less! Subject(s): Animals; Beavers; Fur Trade; Furs | |||
Oh, Man, I think I know just why it is you sigh -- It is to be as beautiful and soft and brown as I. Knowing that when I'm dead, my warm and cuddly skin Will be tucked tenderly beneath a dimpled chin, Will be so gently fingered and adored . . . Death will, to me, much happiness afford. There be far better things than a smooth, round bosom? Then you, my doubting friend, are free to choose'em; And I'll always have this soothing thought to bless, That many a brave and daring man has died for less! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FUR COAT by JAMES STEPHENS BREAK DOWN THESE BARRIERS by FLOSSIE DEANE CRAIG IMPASSE by FLOSSIE DEANE CRAIG THE UNCERTAINTY PRINCIPLE by JAMES GALVIN LET ME NOT LOSES MY DREAM by GEORGIA DOUGLAS JOHNSON LESSER EPISTLES: TO A YOUNG LADY WITH SOME LAMPREYS by JOHN GAY A DREAM, AFTER READING DANTE'S EPISODE OF PAULO & FRANCESCA by JOHN KEATS YUSSOUF by JAMES RUSSELL LOWELL THE SHEPHEARDES CALENDER: JANUARY by EDMUND SPENSER THE HAYLOFT by ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON EMBLEMS OF LOVE: 40.
