RESPITE, by
First Line: Let me be one with the cool brown earth
Last Line: "is sleeping under the sod."

Let me be one with the cool brown earth,
Sun, wind, and rain;
Press closer the healing garment,
Balm for my wearying pain.
Let them be done for a time with blaming;
Friend, foe, and God
Alike, say, "Softly! a tired brother
Is sleeping under the sod."
