MINNIE, by THOMAS CAULFIELD IRWIN Poet's Biography First Line: O crystal well Last Line: O lady moon! | |||
O crystal well, Play daintily on golden sands, When she comes at morning lonely, Followed by her shadow only, To bathe those little slender hands, All aweary gathering Seeds to make her blue birds sing, O crystal well! O forest brown, Breathe thy richest twilight balm, As she wanders, pulling willow Leaflets for her fragrant pillow, Which with snowy cheek and calm She shall press with half-closed eyes, While the great stars o'er thee rise, O forest brown! O Lady Moon, Light her, as she mounts the stair To her little sacred chamber, Like a mother; and remember While she slumbers full of prayer Sweetly then to fill her heart With dreams of heaven, where thou art, O Lady Moon! | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE FAERIE'S CHILD by THOMAS CAULFIELD IRWIN THE POTATO DIGGER'S SONG by THOMAS CAULFIELD IRWIN THE TROUBADOUR'S PILGRIMAGE by THOMAS CAULFIELD IRWIN THE VINE SONG, FR.
