LUNAR COMPULSION, by LORI PETRI First Line: No charm of roof or doors Last Line: In that soft, shrouding luster. | |||
No charm of roof or doors, With a full moon ascending, Can null the silvery chores That beckon for my tending. I must be out, when land Floats in an opal shimmer, Touched by some tenuous hand, Like an enchanted swimmer. A strange, bewitched fool, Through luminous milk I wander, Turned on a mystic spool Hither and round and yonder. But what the tasks may be, Or where their numbers cluster, I cannot seem to see In that soft, shrouding luster. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...THE GARDEN OF ADONIS by EMMA LAZARUS THE POET'S TESTAMENT by GEORGE SANTAYANA TO A WATERFOWL by WILLIAM CULLEN BRYANT REMEMBERED MUSIC; A FRAGMENT by JAMES RUSSELL LOWELL THE SHOOTING OF DAN MCGREW by ROBERT WILLIAM SERVICE WAR AND WASHINGTON by JONATHAN MITCHELL SEWALL BURNS by JOHN GREENLEAF WHITTIER THE TENT ON THE BEACH: 10.
