BATTLE by AL-TUTILI

First Line: BRIGHT AS MOON SERENELY BURNING
Last Line: HALO, CIRCLED HIM ABOUT.

Bright as moon serenely burning,
Brave as lion: so he burst
Where the mills of war were turning
And the battle raged its worst.

As I saw the lances gleaming
Round his brow, I was in doubt
If a forest, or a beaming
Halo, circled him about.
