PAR by CLIFTON E. BLAKE

First Line: I TOOK MY SIN TO MARKET
Last Line: THEY TREMBLED WHEN I PASSED.

I took my sin to market
And led it through the town;
The people flocked about me,
And didn't even frown:
They paid me money down.

I took my love to market
And cried it on the square;
The people came to see it
And called it pretty ware:
They bade me keep it there.

I took my soul to market.
The people stood aghast;
They ran into their houses
And locked the shutters fast:
They trembled when I passed.
