No sound -- but the rush of dark waters Flowing deep in the misty ravine; Jasmine and roses clinging To the trellis of the deserted balcony. Starry flowers like white jewels In the dimness of magic stillness; Beyond -- the glimmering snowy caps of Everest, Below -- the heavy perfume of the garden Dimly lighted by the blazing stars: A pale rose gleamed like a pearl Of the enchanted night. Lustrous petals of peace -- Peace -- terror and reverence. My heart is stilled with awe As my thoughts turn to the sad faces Of weary pilgrims, climbing, ever climbing To the Peace of the Himalayas -- Eternal symbol of an invisible God. | Discover our Poem Explanations and Poet Analyses!Other Poems of Interest...A LITTLE DUTCH GARDEN by HARRIET WHITNEY DURBIN AN ANCIENT PROPHECY by PHILIP FRENEAU ON THE DEATH OF SIR THOMAS WYATT by HENRY HOWARD PROLOGUE, SPOKEN BY MR.
