FLYING BLOSSOMS by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: THESE BUTTERFLIES, IN TWOS AND THREES
Last Line: ANOTHER CROP OF GOLDEN CORN!
Subject(s): BUTTERFLIES; INSECTS; WINGS; BUGS;

These Butterflies, in twos and threes,
That flit about in wind and sun –
See how they add their flowers to flowers,
And blossom where a plant has none!

Bring me my hat of yellow straw,
To greet them on this summer's morn –
That they may think they see in me
Another crop of golden corn!
