TRUST by WILLIAM HENRY DAVIES

Poet Analysis

First Line: ONCE I WAS WISE WHEN, IN MY YOUTH
Last Line: THE MORE I LOSE IN MAN?
Subject(s): FAITH; BELIEF; CREED;

Once I was wise when, in my Youth,
I went my way alone;
Before this world betrayed my trust,
And turned my heart to stone.

Or is it all in God's good time,
In keeping with His plan —
That I may put more trust in Him,
The more I lose in Man?
