IN THE WILDERNESS by WILLIAM ARTHUR DUNKERLEY

First Line: IN SORE DISTRESS
Last Line: FOUND GOD.
Subject(s): RELIGION; THEOLOGY;

In sore distress,
I stumbled in the wilderness;
No help was nigh,
No answer to my cry.
Great was my bitterness, --
I was alone,
My strength all gone;
And I was sore afraid
And wished me dead,
So heavy on me lay the rod.
Then, in my fear,
I raised my head,
And there --
Found God.
