ON A PAIR OF SPATS LAID AWAY FOR THE SUMMER by CHRISTOPHER DARLINGTON MORLEY

Poet Analysis

First Line: LITTLE SPATS / DOWN AMONG THE SUMMER MOTHBALLS
Last Line: LITTLE SPATS!
Subject(s): SHOES; BOOTS; SNEAKERS; SHOEMAKERS;

LITTLE spats,
Down among the summer mothballs
Do you hanker for the time
When you will once more
Encase her bright ankles
As they glimmer up and down
Chestnut street?
Your gain will be our loss,
But don't be dogs in the manger,
Little spats!
